FAQs

Do you have any minimum quantity requirements?

No. If we can buy it, whether it's coin collections, gold appraisal, or silver selling, we will.

How can I find out your current prices for gold and other valuables?

The price of gold (and of any precious metal) fluctuates daily, minute by minute, similar to stocks in the market. For the latest bullion prices, visit our website or give us a call. We’ll be happy to discuss gold appraisal, silver selling, and how to enhance your coin collections, along with buying and selling gold, silver, rare coins, and your other valuables.

I’ve already had an appraisal done; should I bring it with me?

You bet. No paperwork is required when selling your jewelry, but if you have an evaluation done by someone else or other documentation, such as a gold appraisal for your pieces or details about your coin collections, we encourage you to bring it in for silver selling.

I’m bringing in some sterling silver flatware; should I have it cleaned first?

Not unless you really want to. There’s no need to go to the trouble of having your sterling silver cleaned before bringing it in for silver selling. And if you have some old coins from your coin collections that you’d like our experts to evaluate, please don’t clean them—it can actually reduce their value.

How long does the appraisal process last?

The entire process usually takes only a half hour, depending on the quantities of jewelry, including coin collections, that you wish to sell. Will any other company’s gold parties, Weekend-Only Gold Buyers, or individuals that I have to ship my jewelry to REALLY pay me what it is worth? The simple answer is no. None of these buyers of precious metal jewelry, including those involved in silver selling, will pay you what your jewelry or gold appraisal indicates it is truly worth.

Why are they not able to pay me what you can pay me?

They all have one thing in common: extremely high overhead. Television and radio ads are expensive, as is the rent for a hotel conference room or the costs associated with brick and mortar storefronts like pawn shops and jewelry stores. These companies must pay their landlords high rents, insurance, utilities, payroll, and a host of other expenses and bills. For instance, when you bring in coin collections or seek a gold appraisal, all these overhead costs are deducted from what you are offered for your jewelry items. This means that when you engage in silver selling, many fees are often taken at your expense. High overhead and excessive profit-taking combine to rob you of the inherent value of your jewelry. I’ve heard this situation described as opportunism at the expense of innocent people who only wish to be treated fairly.

Do you buy entire coin collections?

Absolutely, especially when it comes to coin collections, gold appraisal, and silver selling.

Do you offer a referral fee?

At The Gold Hunter, your trusted gold dealer in Denver, we aim to build lasting relationships with our clients and the people in their circle of influence. To encourage these long-lasting connections, you will receive a 5% referral fee for anyone you refer to us when they sell jewelry in Denver! For instance, when you refer someone to us and they sell $1000 in jewelry, YOU WILL RECEIVE $50. If your referral results in a $2000 purchase, we will pay you $100. Full transparency: the 5% dollar amount comes from our profit, not from your friends’ or loved ones’ portion of the transaction. Why should your friends be penalized because you referred them to us? Simply put, that would be unfair. Remember – we operate by The Golden Rule! *Coins are excluded from the 5% referral fee because our margins are so slim. However, we will pay you a fair and appropriate fee for any coin clients you refer to us. It’s the right thing to do. Additionally, if you know anyone looking to sell silver in Denver, don’t hesitate to send them our way!
